Lira Mission

Lira Mission (Teso-Bar)

The fourth week of July was quite something. There is a kind of unexplainable
refreshment that we believers get when we go out and preach the gospel to the world,
you should totally try it out if you have not. Indeed, as the Father sent Jesus, so Jesus has
sent us. This time we were in Lira, Northern Uganda, in a place called Teso-bar.
Before I proceed, lemme give you a short history of Teso-bar. The locals told me that once
upon a time, the Iteso people (an ethnic group) lived in that area and made it their
drinking den ergo the name Teso-bar. The name of a place a lot of the times affects the
behavior of the non-believers in a place. We encountered so many people even as early as
10 am sitting in groups and consuming the local brew. And there our ministry of
reconciliation began.
As usual, we did door to door evangelism from morning till evening and I cannot reiterate
how effective it has been so far. By the end of the mission, there was a clear change on the
people whom we ministered too. Some drinking dens were quickly losing people. Glory to
God!
We also had a chance to visit some institutions like schools but what really caught my
attention was the visit to a particular women’s prison. As we ministered to them, we
could tell that although some were guilty as charged, some had been framed. Yet, they all
danced and praised the Lord as if they didn’t have a care in the world. That really
challenged us.
Overall we were around 30 missioners from outside Lira.
We reached over 1838 people
Over 472 people gave their lives to Christ.
That was indeed a successful mission.
